If you weren’t in the financial services industry, what would you be doing professionally?
I’d operate a specialty travel company setting up adventures and history trips around the U.S. and the world.
Who has had the greatest influence on who you are?
My parents, Earl and Jane Boyd, were products of the Great Depression and members of The Greatest Generation. They met through letters in a classic wartime romance. Post WW II life in a small southern town was the ideal place to teach and to learn values, especially those dealing with work ethic, honesty and the importance of family and friends. In the South we call it “being raised right.”
What’s something about you that’s not generally known?
In a former professional life, I helped build water tanks across the country, including the Peachoid on I-85 at Gaffney SC, which was made famous by Kevin Spacey in House of Cards. Also, I‘m a private pilot and love most everything about airplanes.
If someone were playing you in a movie about your life, who would it be?
No question about it. Leo DiCaprio.
Do you have a favorite quote?
I think Thomas Jefferson said it well: “He who knows best knows how little he knows.”
